The following is the official ballot language for the upcoming vote on the feasibility study and planning phase for a health club and pool facility. The vote will begin October 20th and end on November 19th.
Dear Association Member,
Earlier this year, the Rancho Santa Fe Association Board of Directors established a Health Club Steering Committee to evaluate the feasibility of building a Health Club, which would include a fitness center, swimming pool and casual food service. Over the past few months, the Committee has studied several potential locations, what features should be included, as well as possible funding options. The Health Club Steering Committee has proposed a location for the Health Club facility on RSF Association owned land between the RSF Golf Club’s player’s clubhouse and the RSF Tennis Club.
At this point in time, the Association Board has determined that the most prudent next step is to retain professional engineers, architects and various fitness, pool and club related consultants to prepare a comprehensive feasibility evaluation and analysis in order to fully understand the details of this project. This feasibility phase, which would include the preparation of member surveys, site analysis and engineering, architectural designs, design of additional parking areas, refined cost estimates and the development of funding alternatives for the Health Club, is anticipated to cost approximately $350,000. The funding source would be the Association’s Covenant Enhancement Fund.
While there are ample funds available for this feasibility phase the Association Board has concluded, in keeping with its promise of transparency, to conduct an advisory vote of the membership as to whether the Health Club Steering Committee should proceed with this next critical phase for a Health Club facility. It is important to note that your advisory vote would be to approve or disapprove of the Association embarking on this phase only and this vote would not authorize construction of the Health Club facility.
