Tagged in

There will be an open seat for a spot on the Santa Fe Irrigation District Board in Divisions 3, 4 and 5 in the coming November election.

The community is specifically looking for candidates to represent Divisions 3 and 5. Candidates for Division 3 must live north of the golf course and/or Fairbanks Ranch. Candidates for Division 5 must live in the southern portion of Solana Beach.

The current incumbent for Division 3, John Ingalls, will not seek re-election due to health concerns. Andy Meshek currently serves as the representative for Division 5 and Board President Michael Hogan currently represents Division 4.

The Board has an annual operating budget of $22.3 million and 44 full-time staff members. Some the Board responsibilities include:

  1. Managing our water supply portfolio to meet changing water supply and demand
  2. Building, maintaining and operating the infrastructure
  3. Establishing rates and charges
  4. Providing customer service and public information

The easiest way to see if you live in the right area is to call San Diego Voter Registration at 858-565-5800. Just give them your address and ask which Division you live in.  There are also maps available online and at the Irrigation District office located in the Rancho Santa Fe Village.

Candidates have only from July 14th until August 8th to file their statement of candidacy. Filing papers will be available at the local district offices, but must be turned in at the Registrar of Voter’s office at 5600 Overland Drive, San Diego.

For more information, contact current Santa Fe Irrigation District Board Director, Greg Gruzdowich.

He will be happy to meet with you and tell you all about the position and the board.
